About the event
Bulqini x Collective Laboratory Bandung is a dynamic and evolving artistic collective that emerged in 2015 from a concept centered around a robotic figure named Jack. Over the years, this collective has woven together a diverse tapestry of interdisciplinary artists, each contributing to the ongoing dialogue around the existence and interpretation of the robot in various spatial contexts and festivals. The collective, known as Collective Laboratory (Collective. Lab), is an open platform that fosters collaboration across disciplines such as literature, theater, and new media art, consistently inviting new dramaturges to reinterpret the robot’s role within different spatial settings. In their latest project, Performatif Sound dan Objek: Percobaan 1.1 Posthuman, Bulqini x Collective Laboratory delves into the theme of posthumanism by exploring the intersection of the ancient and the non-ancient, erasing the dichotomy between human and non-human entities. This performance invites artists to manipulate objects in ways that produce both sound and movement, creating an immersive experience that blurs the lines between body and object. The piece challenges conventional boundaries through experimental sounds and performative interventions and offers audiences a glimpse into a world where technology and humanity are inextricably linked.
This collaboration also extends to curators, researchers, and academics who reflect on the societal shifts brought about by technological advancements, reimagining the relationship between humans and the organic and inorganic environments surrounding them. As part of DITP24, this performance will resonate deeply with the festival’s exploration of posthumanism, presenting a thought-provoking narrative on the evolving relationship between man, machine, and the world we inhabit.
