About the event
Hailing from the artistic landscapes of Japan, Pijin Neji is a distinguished dancer and choreographer whose journey through the world of Butoh dance has carved a unique path in contemporary performance art. He began his illustrious career with the renowned Butoh company, Dairakudakan, under the direction of Maro Akaji.
Since 2004, Pijin has embarked on a solo journey, delving deep into his own physicality with a microscopic approach and choreographing works that explore the materiality of the human body.
Pijin Neji's latest performance, "STREAM," is a profound reflection on the myriad aspects of our lives, shaped by the events from 2020 to the present. Through a series of evocative monologues, Pijin weaves a narrative that traverses artistic endeavors, work, illness, child-rearing, war, economy, death, and dance.
"STREAM" is not just about the coronavirus pandemic but also about the various "with"s that run parallel to our daily existence, presenting a thought-provoking exploration of our shared human experience.
